Homo Sapiens? presents a collection of sixteen satirical stories, all performed by Guillermo
Francella. Each character embodies a different kind of tension: elegant opportunism, bourgeois
double standards, football fanaticism, consumerist ambition, humour in the face of chaos,
exaggerated political correctness, the cult of age and status, the mafia of friendship, or the art of
playing the fool. There is no redemption and no moral lesson — only humour and discomfort, but
also tenderness and an irony both sharp and unavoidable. Far from any attempt to define what
Argentina is, the film immerses itself in an imaginary world that feels familiar to us all — even if we
might prefer to deny it.

Spain, 1939. Just two weeks after the end of the Spanish Civil War, General Franco orders a
celebratory dinner at the luxurious Hotel Palace in Madrid. A young lieutenant, a meticulous head
waiter, and a group of Republican prisoners—men from the opposing side of Franco’s regime but
gifted in the kitchen—are forced to deliver a banquet in record time. Everything seems to be
running smoothly, however, the cooks are planning not only the feast, but also their own escape.
