Leading this year's jury will be the celebrated Italian actress and director Claudia Gerini (I'm Crazy About Iris Blond, Honeymoon, Different from Whom? Tapirulan), winner of the David di Donatello for Best Supporting Actress for Love and Bullets. Claudia Gerini boasts a notable international career, with unforgettable roles in films such as The Unknown Woman directed by Giuseppe Tornatore and The Order of Time by Liliana Cavani. Honorary President of the Festival is actor and icon of Italian and international cinema Franco Nero (Django, Django Unchained, John Wick: Chapter 2). He has acted with the most important European directors, such as Luis Buñuel, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Claude Chabrol, Sergei Bondarciuk, Michael Cacoyannis, Elio Petri, and Marco Bellocchio, and was nominated for a Golden Globe for Camelot . He was also awarded the honor of Cavaliere della Repubblica Italiana by the President of the Italian Republic. Alongside them, prominent jury members include the eclectic Spanish actress Teresa Riott (El Inmortal), known for the international success of the Netflix series Valeria , and the popular American actor, director, and producer Daniel McVicar (The Fourth Planet, One Way Ticket to the Moon, Thief of Falling Stars) , who lives between Italy and the United States, famous for his role as Clarke Garrison in the soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful. The jury, with its international experience and deep knowledge of cinema, promises a careful selection of the works in competition, highlighting talent, originality, and artistic quality. Under the creative guidance and direction of Ezio Greggio , the Monte-Carlo Film Festival celebrates its 22nd edition, consolidating its role as a world-class event entirely dedicated to comedy. The event will once again be held at the prestigious Grimaldi Forum in Monte Carlo, offering audiences a rich program of screenings and masterclasses with some of the most esteemed figures in international, Italian, and French cinema. The highlight will be the traditional Gala evening with the awards ceremony, scheduled for Saturday, November 15th. During the Gala, in addition to the many expected guests, Gipsy's Kings way by Pablo Reyes, the new generation of the Gipsy Kings , will perform their most famous songs. Further special guests will be announced soon, promising an event full of emotion and surprises.
The festival aims to promote and showcase the various genres of comedy through film premieres, both in and out of competition, thus offering an important showcase for a genre that is highly regarded by audiences but often overlooked by critics. Thanks to the commitment of Ezio Greggio and the late Mario Monicelli, co-founder of the event, comedy has gained renewed recognition at prestigious festivals such as Cannes, Rome, Turin, and Venice. Following the resounding success of past editions, the Short Comedy Award, the section dedicated to comic short films, returns this year. The initiative is open to directors, actors, and producers of short comedies ready to inspire audiences with original and lively stories.
The event, in collaboration with EFG Bank (Monaco), has always been held under the High Patronage of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco and the Italian Embassy. As in previous years, Radio Monte Carlo is the Festival's official radio station.
