WINS THE MONTECARLO FILM FESTIVAL DE LA COMEDIE AND THE POPULAR JURY PRIZE

In the presence of HSH Prince Albert II, gala evening and awards ceremony on Saturday 30 November 2024, in the Salle Prince Pierre of the Grimaldi Forum The 21st Monte-Carlo Film Festival de la Comédie closes with great success, an event conceived and led by Ezio Greggio, from 27 to 30 November 2024 at the Grimaldi Forum. After the decision of the Jury chaired by Anne Brochet, the members, Federica Sabatini, Ricky Memphis, and Andrea Ferreol, awarded the Spanish film directed by Dani De La Orden, which returns to the Festival for the fourth consecutive year, for LA CASA EN FLAMES and also wins the audience award. Best director goes to Matthew Rankin for the Canadian film UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE. The best actor award goes to the Argentinian actor Marcelo Subiotto for PUAN and the best actress award goes to Marie Benati for the English film PAUL & PAULETTE TAKE A BATH and finally the Short Comedy Award in the section dedicated to shorts goes to the Belgian film , ALLEGRESSE directed by Gillie Cinneri with Clara Yelin and Georges Siatidis. THE SPECIAL PRIZES The MCFF Award of Excellence was presented by H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco to Oscar winner Giuseppe Tornatore, special guest of the 21st Monte-Carlo Film Festival. The MCFF Award was awarded to Peter Chelsom, director of « A Sudden Case of Christmas » with Danny De Vito and Andie MacDowell, a film not included in the Monte-Carlo Film Festival 2024. Among his films are “Security”, “The Space ” Between”, “Hector and the Pursuit of Happyness”, “Hanna Montana: The Movie”, “Sall We Dance”. Special MCFF Award for her extraordinary career to the actress Andréa Ferréol, Marco Ferreri's muse for “La Grande Abbuffata”, “L'Ultimo Metrò” by Francois Truffaut (nominated as best supporting actress at the Cesars) and “I'm crazy about Iris Biondo” by Carlo Verdone for which he received a nomination for the David di Donatello in 1997. The 2024 MCFF Award for Lifetime Achievement went to the brilliant actress Paola Minaccioni, protagonist of brilliant comedies and challenging films (“Magnifica Presence”, “But What Does the Brain Tell Us”, “Lockdown Italian Style” and the highly anticipated “Diamanti” by Ferzan Ozpetek), best leading actress at the Nastri D'Argento for “Fasten your seatbelts”. MCFF Award 2024 to the international star Salvatore Esposito (“Gomorrah – The series”, “Fargo”, “Spaccapietre”), protagonist of the new Sky Original TV series, “Piedone - Uno Sbirro a Napoli”, from 2 December exclusively on Sky , in the role of Vincenzo Palmieri, a police inspector who is the spiritual heir of Inspector Rizzo, immortalized by the unforgettable Bud Spencer with the legendary “Piedone Lo Sbirro” (1973). Salvatore Esposito also presented his latest literary work at the Festival, the crime novel entitled "The Witches of Lourdes", published by Sperling & Kupfer and which completes an exciting trilogy. MCFF Award 2024 to Ricky Memphis, for his performances in comedy films such as "Immaturi", "Christmas Holiday in Cortina", "The Penguin's Move" and for highly successful series such as "Police District" and more committed ones such as “Everything asks for salvation” and films like “Ultrà”. Finally, the MCFF Young Generation Award went to the actress Federica Sabatini, revelation of the TV series "Suburra - The Series", "Suburræterna", "Red Mirror" and the long-awaited "Prophecy". The event, in collaboration with EFG Bank (Monaco), has always taken place under the High Patronage of S.A.S. Prince Albert II of Monaco and the Italian Embassy. Since the first edition Radio Monte Carlo has been the official radio of the Festival. Like every year Marlù Gioielli participates in the festival and this year with a Marlù award for social issues "Your words can make a difference". With this Award Marlù wants to recognize the role of words as a means of amplifying social themes and messages dear to society and strengthen the voice of those who help young people to grow and dream because each of us, even with a single word, can help make the lives of many different and better.
