GRAND FINALE FOR THE AWARDS GALA DIRECTED BY EZIO GREGGIO

 

The 22nd Monte-Carlo Film Festival de la Comédie, the event conceived and chaired by Ezio Greggio, which took place from November 12th to 15th in the Principality of Monaco, concluded with enormous success. Following the jury's verdict, the following awards were presented: Best Film Award La Cena by Manurel Gómez Pereira For its masterful staging and ability to address a delicate and still painful topic like Franco's regime with intelligence and humor, without ever losing emotional depth. The film combines pace and tension with a meticulous historical reconstruction and the use of music that accompanies the narrative. Pure emotion and entertainment. Best Director Award Partir un jour by Amélie Bonnin For the sensitivity and delicacy with which she constructs each scene and directs her cast. Frame after frame, Amélie Bonnin captures the emotional complexity of family relationships, perfectly integrating elements of the musical into everyday life. The result is a fresh and harmonious story, a lucid portrait of the difficulties of a young woman facing life. Best Actress Award Juliette Armanet – Partir un jour by Amélie Bonnin Juliette Armanet brings to life a modern and self-aware woman who, despite conflicts, never loses her grace. She sings, skates, and cooks alongside her character, making her believable and strong. An actress capable of transforming action into poetry. Best Actor Award (ex aequo) Guillermo Francella – Homo Argentum For his ability to give form, depth, and sixteen different nuances to the multifaceted characters in this episodic film. Francella reinvents himself with incredible interpretative versatility. A true champion. Mads Mikkelsen – The Last Viking For his delicate approach to the theme of mental illness and his ability to dignify the character with an intense and moving performance. Translating the perfect script into impeccable looks and gestures, Mikkelsen delivers a performance of rare precision. The awards ceremony on Saturday, November 15th, hosted by Ezio Greggio, welcomed many celebrities to the stage: actresses Madalina Ghenea and Iaia Forte; Gabriele Mainetti, producer, director, and actor; Paolo Genovese, screenwriter, director, and novelist, who accepted the MCFF Special Award for the huge success with audiences and critics of his latest film, "Follemente." Giovanni Veronesi, screenwriter, director, and radio host. Applause for Daniel McVicar, American actor, director, and producer, at the Monte-Carlo Film Festival as a member of the jury and president of the short film selection in competition. The Short Comedy Awards 2025 was awarded to the short film Andromeda, (Russia) directed by Anna Melykian. Franco Nero was greeted with a standing ovation and received the MCFF "Mito del Cinema – Legend" Award for Lifetime Achievement. There was no shortage of laughter and emotional moments with three of Italy's greatest comedians: Lino Banfi received the prestigious MCFF Legend Award and the audience's embrace with a second standing ovation. Massimo Boldi, actor, comedian, and film producer, received prolonged applause, memories of cinema and cabaret, and the MCFF Award. Vincenzo Salemme, actor, comedian, storyteller, director, and screenwriter, received the Monte-Carlo Film Festival Special Award. And Gerry Scotti, host of highly successful quiz shows and programs, accepted the MCFF Exploit Award, a special recognition for his significant contribution to Italian television entertainment. This year's Marlu' Social Award was given to Madalina Ghenea, an artist who has transformed her talent into a medium capable of conveying authentic values ​​and meaningful messages, and who has distinguished herself not only for her artistic sensibility but also for her concrete commitment to initiatives with a strong social impact. Great anticipation was also expressed for Gipsy's Kings Way by Pablo Reyes, a founding member of the original band, who brought the energy and passion of flamenco tradition to the stage, reinterpreting the band's hits. This was a particularly significant moment for Pablo Reyes, who received a lifetime achievement award for the value and importance of his musical career and for keeping the artistic legacy of the Gipsy Kings alive. The event, in collaboration with EFG Bank (Monaco), took place, as always, under the High Patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco and the Italian Embassy. As in previous years, Radio Monte Carlo is the Festival's official radio station.
