The 20th Monte-Carlo Film Festival de la Comédie, the event conceived and chaired by Ezio Greggio, from 24 to 29 April 2023 in the Principality of Monaco, ended with enormous success. Following the verdict of the Jury composed of the President of the Jury Giancarlo Giannini, Richard Anconina, Neri Marcorè, and Nathalie Poza, the following were awarded: The Argentine film “Empieza el baile” which obtained three awards, winning the award for best director, best actor for Dario Grandinetti and the Audience Award.
The best director ex-aequo goes to the Ukrainian director Antonio Lukich for Luxembourg, Luxembourg. The best actress award goes to the Spanish Anna Castillo for “Historias para no contar” directed by Cesc Gay.
Finally, the Short Comedy Award in the short film section goes to the film “The 12 apostles” directed by Laura Ghaza.
GALA EVENING AND AWARDS
A parade of stars at the Monte-Carlo Grand Gala to celebrate this year's winners. Hosted by Ezio Greggio along with the charming Elenoire Casalegno, the evening will bring international and Italian guests beloved by the small and big screen audience to the stage of the Grimaldi Forum.
The Movie Legend Award this year goes to Maestro Costa-Gavras for his 54-year career (Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for the film “Missing”, a win at the Cannes Film Festival for Best Director for the film “The Affair” in the special section and many other international awards) and for having made the history of international cinema. There is also anticipation for Mira Sorvino (Oscar for “Mighty Aphrodite” by Woody Allen) who will receive the MCFF Award for her career and the films that have made her famous throughout the world.
The spotlight is also on actress and President of the non-profit organization Every Child is my child Anna Foglietta, (“Perfetti sconosciuto”, “The American” “Nessuno mi può giudica”) who will receive the “Actress of the Year” award for the films that have made her one of the most loved and appreciated actresses by the Italian public. Among the winners this year is also Federico Cesari (“Skam”, “Anni da cane”, “Buongiorno Mamma” “Tutto domande salvare”) who will receive the Next Generation Award, an award aimed at new faces in cinema and television. And again, there is much anticipation for one of the most loved Italian actors by the public, Marco Giallini, the award-winning actor who won 3 Nastri d'argento for “ACAB- All Cops are Bastards”, “Tutta colpa di Freud” and “Perfetti sconosciuto” ready to receive the MCFF Career Award. Also a guest of the evening was the champion Alex del Piero who left his footprints on the Champions Promenade in Monte Carlo (winner of the Golden Foot in 2007).
Among the young international talents, Ezio Greggio will also award Victor Belmondo, a very young French actor who is following in the footsteps of his paternal grandfather, the great and unforgettable Jean Paul Belmondo, and who is destined to have an exceptional career.
Among the personalities who will be present at the evening, Barbara D'Urso, Elena Barolo, and the actor of “La Casa di Carta” Mario de la Rosa, already a member of the Festival Jury 2 years ago.
The musical guest of the evening will be Claude, the phenomenon who comes directly from Holland, the singer will perform on stage with his hit “Ladada” (Mes Derniers Mots/Time Records/Believe).
The event, in collaboration with EFG Bank (Monaco), has always taken place under the High Patronage of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco and the Italian Embassy. Since the first edition, Radio Monte Carlo has been the official Radio of the Festival.
