The Festival will end with the gala evening on Saturday 30 November, which this year will have as guest of honour Prince Albert II of Monaco.
The evening will be hosted by the President and creator of the event Ezio Greggio who, together with friends and colleagues from the world of TV and cinema, will award the films in competition, Italian stars and
international teams arrived in the Principality of Monaco to celebrate the twenty-first edition
of the festival. The special guest of the Monte-Carlo Film Festival will be the director, writer
and screenwriter Giuseppe Tornatore (“The Legend of 1900”,
“Malena”, “Everybody's Fine”, “Baaria”), Oscar winner for the direction of “New Cinema
Paradiso” with which he also won the Grand Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival,
which will be awarded the MCFF Excellence Award.
Great expectations also for the eclectic Paola Minaccioni (“Magnificent presence”, “But
what the brain tells us”, “Lockdown all'Italiana” and the highly anticipated “Diamanti” by Ferzan
Ozpetek), best leading actress at the Nastri D'Argento for “Fasten your seatbelts”
who will receive the MCFF Award for his career characterized by brilliant comedies and
committed films.
The evening was attended by the singer originally from Manchester, Lusaint, stage name
by Lucy Hopkins, one of the most interesting voices of the moment, who will entertain the guests
of the Grimaldi Forum with his most famous songs, “Fool for you” and “Sober”.
For the second time, the international star Salvatore Esposito will be a guest at the Festival
(“Gomorrah – The Series”, “Fargo”, “Spaccapietre”), who will star in the new
Sky Original TV series, “Piedone - Uno Sbirro a Napoli”, from December 2nd exclusively on
Sky, in the role of Vincenzo Palmieri, a police inspector and spiritual heir of the
Commissioner Rizzo made immortal by the unforgettable Bud Spencer with the legendary
“Piedone Lo Sbirro” (1973). Esposito will also bring his latest work to the Festival
literary, the crime titled “The Witches of Lourdes”, published by Sperling & Kupfer
The 21st edition of the Monte-Carlo Film Festival de la Comédie, in collaboration
with EFG Bank (Monaco) and Marlù Gioielli, has always taken place under the High Patronage
of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco and the Italian Embassy. As last
year, Radio Monte Carlo is the official radio of the Festival.
Marlù Gioielli is also participating in this edition and this year with a prize
Marlù for the social "Your words can make the difference". With this Award
Marlù wants to recognize the role of words as a means of amplifying themes and
social messages dear to the community and strengthen the voice of those who help young people to
grow and dream because each of us, even with a single word, can
help make the lives of many different and better.
